Alexander Krassyuk, promoter for IBF, IBO, WBA, WBO heavyweight champion Oleksandr Usyk, is hoping that WBC king Tyson Fury will remain in shape for the upcoming undisputed showdown.

Last month in Saudi Arabia, Fury came close to defeat in a ten round split decision win over MMA veteran Francis Ngannou, who was making his professional debut in the sport.

Fury and Usyk already have a deal in place to collide two times in 2024, with the first bout potentially landing on a date in February.

For the contest with Ngannou, Fury stepped on the scale at a career high weight.

Many observers predicted a one-sided wipeout, but instead the contest became a very competitive battle - with Fury getting dropped in the third round and having struggles throughout the fight.

There is a strong belief that Fury was not in the best of shape.

Fury has a tendency to put on weight between fights - especially when he's inactive.

Krassyuk has no problem with giving Fury additional time to physically recover from the Ngannou contest, but he doesn't want him to get out of shape during these upcoming months.

"It depends on how he gonna spend this time," Krassyuk told Daily Mail's The Hook podcast.

"If it brings him to a better shape and better spirit, then definitely yes. But we remember Tyson after he defeated [Wladimir] Klitschko [in 2015] and was supposed to fight in the rematch, he spent his time, let's say, not in the best manner."

Fury has explained in the past that regardless of how hard he trains, he will never have a chiseled body like domestic rival Anthony Joshua.

"It's good to have a good body. I would love to have a good body. But, I don't have any hope of having a good body," Fury said.

"I have been training for well over 20 years and I still haven't got a good body. I've been in a training camp, living like a monk, for the past 12 weeks and I still don't have a good body. If I had a 10 pack and I looked like Adonis - completely unbelievable and I wasn't winning, it's pointless. So I don't really care about being fat."
