On December 17th at the Forum in Inglewood, California, WBO cruiserweight titlist, Oleksander Usyk (10-0, 9KOs) takes on Thabiso Mchunu in what is not only his Stateside debut but also his introduction to the HBO audience as well.

If he should come out victorious, Usyk - who recently signed with manager Egis Klimas and K2 Promotions - could be paired with WBA, WBC, IBF, IBO middleweight champion Gennady Golovkin (36-0, 33KOs) in March.

"That would be the goal," revealed Tom  Loeffler, the managing director of K2, who is still trying to make a bout between Golovkin and mandatory challenger Danny Jacobs at New York's Madison Square Garden on March 18th.

"Once we can finalize Gennady's fight, it would be good to feature Oleksandr on that show as well. It's a goal to bring him to New York and bring him to Madison Square Garden but it's one step at a time. He's got to win on December 17th, we have to finalize the Golovkin show but in an ideal situation that would be the ideal situation, that would be the next step and that would give him two title defenses in a relatively short period of time."

"That would also be on HBO and featured here in the U.S. market and then we'll see how it goes."

Back on September 17th in Poland, Usyk decisioned undefeated Polish puncher Krzystof Glowaki over twelve rounds to capture the world title in what was just his tenth pro bout.
