Universum is awaiting a spectacular fight in Las Vegas. What do you expect and how do you feel about the trip to Las Vegas?

Universum Vice President Dietmar Poszwa: "Being in Las Vegas is always something special. It’s not an everyday situation that you will present the headlining fight on HBO especially with such an incredible fighter. Marcos Rene Maidana is currently one of the most interesting and attractive fighters in the boxing business. He has an amazing punching power in both of his hands. His fighting style is very aggressive and highly attractive and he has already impressed the boxing fans in Europe and he will from now on also in America. That’s why the fight against Ortiz was one of the top fights in 2009.“

What can you expect of the battle Maidana vs. Cayo?

"It will be a classical bout between a fighter and a puncher. Cayo is for sure a very dangerous and unbeaten contender. I believe that Cayo will be able to have the fight on an even level over the first rounds due to his technique and his speed. But I’m sure that the longer the fight will take Maidana will take over because of his power and fitness. By the halftime of the fight Maidana should have earned an advantage in order to finish it with a knockout. Maidana is known for spectacular fights, he scores knockouts. That’s what the fans want to see from him, that’s what the expect. For a fighter on the same level like Maidana it is highly important how to win the fight and how to impress the crowd. That’s why I’m hoping for a knockout!“

Which are the developments Maidana has gained over the past fights?

"He has developed from a fight to the next one and he has gained a lot of experience. This is not easy especially for him because in the past he mainly had finished the fights early. It was very important for him to get the chance and have fights which will go over the whole distance. Additionally he has improved on his skills and he had fought against stronger opponents and had the energy and power to defeat them. He has reached this high international level but I’m sure Marcos hasn’t accomplished his full potential yet so he will continue to cause a stir within this weight class in the future.“

Marcos is a spectacular fighter inside the ring, how is he doing outside the ring?

"He is a very friendly and decent guy with a great character. An absolute family person. He a likeable in his appearance and he is 100% focussed on his sport. Marcos is a very ambitious and determined and that’s what I like about him.“

It was highly discussed, a fight against Amir Khan. When will we see the fight Maidana vs. Khan?

"At the moment we focus 100% on the fight against Cayo. It’s important for him to establish himself as a HBO headlining fighter. Everything else can be discussed after a hopefully successful Saturday night.“

Maybe Alexander should be calling out for a fight against Khan? Why waste his time? He knows that Khan only fights guys with no power.

Alexander has two alphabet belts. If anyone should be taking the easy road now it's him....but instead he's going after the guy Khan ducked. Khan is more dangerous to Alexander than Maidana is. The only way Maidana can beat Alexander is by KO, and even that is a long shot because Alexander has a good chin. However, Khan has the potential to outbox Alexander, and maybe even TKO him using his speed, combos, and power. Maybe Alexander should be calling out for a fight against Khan?

] John youre always so critical of Amir. And you make sense 9 out of 10 times but can you plz talk about the Khan Maidana deal after May 15th. Amir said he wanted to fight a well known name for his US debut. Lets believe him for that. We should talk about the deal if he doesnt fight Maidana after May 15th. wazza, OK but I find it very significant that Alexander is looking at Maidana as an opponent. He does not seem to think he is too small a name to fight. I am pretty certain there will be no Maidana fight straight after Khan gets past Paulie.

BPP, he didnt talk about Amir. You asked him about Amir but he avoided the question....This thread is misleading :thumbdow:. I clicked on it for no reason. Thank you for wasting 2 minutes of my precious life. Actually the fact that he avoided the question about Khan says a lot. it makes me think Maidana knows he will never get to fight him.
