Irish boxer Andy Lee who so far has been making a career of it in the United States under the watchful eye of trainer Emanuel Steward is set to fight for the first time in his native Ireland on August 25th.

Lee, who is undefeated as a pro with a record of 10-0 (7)KO is going to fight in Dublin in an eight rounder against a yet to be named opponent.  For Irish fans it will be their first chance to see the 2004 Olympian fight as a professional.

The card will also feature fellow Irishman Bernard (Ben) Dunne, 24-0 (14)KO who will be defending his EBU Super-Bantamweight title against Spain’s undefeated Kiko Martinez, 16-0 (13)KO.

Lee told Ireland On-Line that, “I'm really delighted to be returning home to Ireland to fight.  The last 18 months with Emanuel has been quite an adventure to say the least. I've boxed in places like Detroit, Memphis, New York, Las Vegas, Mannheim and Cologne - but you know what they say, there's no place like home!" Lee continued, "I'm glad my fans in Limerick and across the country have now got the opportunity to come and support me and the other boxers on the show. Every time I come home I keep getting asked: 'When am I fighting in Ireland?'

Steward, who has served as Lee’s manager and trainer since December 2005 also thinks it’s a great idea that his young charge is coming home to fight. "I'm very excited about Andy making his Irish debut next month. It's Andy's eleventh fight and the time is now right for boxing fans from Limerick, Dublin, Belfast and across Ireland to see one of their most talented sons perform," Steward said.
