When Light Middleweight contender ‘Phat’ Pat McAleese last faced Lee Noble, on the Ricky Hatton promoted show at the Goresbrook Leisure Centre in Dagenham, Essex back on the 26th March, things didn’t go quite the way that McAleese or his legion of fans expected, with the referee, Richie Davies, scoring the contest a 58-58 points draw.

Following the surprise result McAleese told Boxing Scene’s Dean Parr, "A lot of people in the crowd gave me five out of the six rounds, and I thought I won four out of the six, and drew the last, if not winning it." then adding, “I'll hopefully get a rematch and set the record straight.”

McAleese has got his wish and at the same time the opportunity to secure his first championship belt, as the rematch, which will be for the British Masters Light Middleweight Title, co-headlines the Steve Goodwin promoted ‘It’s Personal’ event at the York Hall, Bethnal Green, London on Saturday the 11th September 2010.

Following a heavy sparring session under the watchful eyes of his manager/trainer Johnny Eames and co-trainer Derek Grainger, at the Ultrachem TKO Gym in Canning Town, McAleese spoke of the upcoming showdown, “You better believe it’s personal.  I have no doubt in my mind that I am going to win. I’ve trained better, I’ve slept better, eating better and I’ve rested.

The last fight came at the end of a busy season. I only fought thirteen days before the last fight and was feeling a bit tired on the night. On the 11th September it’s going to be a very different Pat McAleese in the ring so he’s in for a shock.

It was frustrating, I thought I won. It wasn’t me in the ring really, it was a jaded me, but I feel I still won. This time I’m gonna be in tiptop shape. I’m going to be doing a proper training camp in London for two weeks just before the fight so I’ll be ready for it.

The training and sparring I’m getting here, at the Ultrachem TKO Gym, is first class. Johnny (Eames) and Derek (Grainger) have been really putting me through the paces. It’s good, really good. They’ve also lined me up some top class sparring with Eddie (Corcoran), Nathan (Weise) and Erick (Ochieng).

Erick’s also on the September show. He’s sharp, we’ve been doing some real good sparring, doing plenty of rounds in the gym. It’s coming together nicely as Erick’s got a similar style to Lee (Noble), he’s got a fast jab and he’s awkward to hit. The main difference is that Erick goes low, and lets off more shots while Lee goes high and then covers up. It’s slightly different, but it’s still great sparring for me.

I want to win this so badly, it’s unreal, I’m giving it hundred and ten percent in training and I know that on the night I’ll win it in the ring.”

MARTINEZ READY FOR BURNS AND SCOTTISH WEATHER

Roman Martinez will leave nothing to chance when he fights Ricky Burns - including the unpredictable Scottish weather.

The WBO super-featherweight champion defends his title on September 4 at Glasgow's Kelvin Hall.

And he will leave steamy Puerto Rico early in order to acclimatise.

"The wind and rain could be the biggest threat to me," said Martinez.

"I'm not worried about Burns, but I am concerned about the temperature in Scotland.

"I hear it can be freezing even in August.

"I'll leave myself plenty of time to get ready because I don't want to make any mistakes.

"At the moment, it is very, very hot in Puerto Rico, but I don't think it will be quite as warm in Scotland.

"But I am the ultimate professional and will be perfectly prepared by September 4."

Martinez has already travelled to the UK, defeating Nicky Cook by TKO to lift the title two years ago.

And he is confident he will maintain his unbeaten record against WBO number one Burns.

"I would like to have fought in Puerto Rico, but I am happy to come to Scotland to fight Ricky," said Martinez.

"I have happy memories of Britain because it is where I beat Cook, and I will have more happy memories after the Burns fight."

STEVE MOLITOR finds boxing easy – a tougher job is living every day without his jailed brother.

While sibling Jeremy ruined his ring career when he was sentenced to serve at least 14 years for second degree murder of his girlfriend in 2004, Steve has flown the flag.

Canadian Steve (32-1) will be fighting for his brother when he defends his IBF world super-bantamweight title against Jason Booth (35-5) at Rainton Meadows Arena, Houghton-le-Spring on Saturday September 11.

Southpaw Molitor, 30, admitted: “It has taken a tremendous toll.

“But it’s just part of the trials and tribulations of my life. And for me to be able to get through that, and be able to get through that, and be successful, shows what kind of man I am.

“It was a long time ago and my focus is completely on boxing. The past is the past. I survived, I stayed out of trouble, kept training, kept winning and it made me who I am today.”

Molitor is still there for his brother who won a gold medal at the 1998 Commonwealth Games adding:  “It’s unconditional love. No one has seen him as I’ve seen him.

“The talks we’ve had, the things we’ve shared. The rest of the world has turned its back on him and shut him out.

“Me? I want to be there for him and to love him and to work on getting him rehabilitated. He needs someone in his life that cares about him. Well, I care.”

In the chief supporting bout Londoner Matthew Marsh (13-2) will meet undefeated Scot Kris Hughes (12-0) for the vacant Commonwealth super-bantamweight crown .

Marsh controversially lost on an 11th round cuts stoppage to Booth in February and will have one eye on the winner of the world title clash.

Other fighters on the bill include British featherweight champion Martin Lindsay (16-0), Jon Lewis Dickinson (8-1) and debutant Glen Foot.

Tickets for the massive night of action are available from 0871 226 1508 or www.frankmaloney.com . VIP Ringside are £90 with the rest a bargain £35. Get yours in advance for a show that looks certain to sell out.
