What the boxing world need is another title to fight for right? 

Well, this past weekend saw the launching of the latest sanctioning body. Guillaume Frenois’ points win over Patrick Kinigamazi in Geneva saw the crowning of the UFB lightweight championship.
 
UFB? 

The latest alphabet acronym stands for Union Francophone de Boxe, which is open for fighters from the French speaking countries (all 56 of them).
 
Honorary President for the new organization is middleweight great Jean Claude Bouttier. The President is Peter Stucki of Switzerland, with Houcine Houichi of Tunisia serving as Vice President.
 
The UFB will recognize nine weight divisions: flyweight (112 lb), bantamweight (118 lb), featherweight (126 lb), lightweight (135 lb), welterweight (147 lb), middleweight (160 lb), light heavyweight (175 lb), cruiserweight (200 lb) and heavyweight (unlimited).
