Tyson Fury fights America's exquisitely named Rich Power at the York Hall, Bethnal Green this Friday night and the 22-year-old fighter has expressed his surprise at Audley Harrison's surprise WBA title shot against David Haye, stressing that Harrison does not deserve a crack at one of the world crowns.
"I think it's a farce, to be honest,” declared Fury when discussing the 'battle of Britain' with sportinglife.com. "I don't think Audley Harrison deserves a shot at the world title for winning the Prizefighter tournament and his European title, when his opponent was Michael Sprott, who had lost nearly all his fights abroad when it came to fighting Europeans. I don't even think he was ranked in the top 10 when he fought Harrison. I don't know how he can beat Michael Sprott and get a shot at the world title.”
He added: "It's one of those things. He's got the opportunity and he's going to take it with both hands. Best of luck to him anyway. I wouldn't pay 15 pence to watch it to be honest. I'm not really too bothered who wins because by next year I'll be knocking on the door myself. I'd definitely put up a better fight (against Haye) than Harrison. I reckon I could beat Audley Harrison, to be honest. But it's about getting the chance to prove it. I don't see how he can win, really, unless he lands a big shot on David Haye."
Fury hopes to move to 12-0 on Friday night, he is currently 11-0 (9); Power is undefeated also, 12-0 (9), and will hope to make a statement himself before the Showtime cameras. Premier Sports televise here in the UK, with promoter Mick Hennessy ensuring that his 6' 7'' charge stays busy and gets worldwide TV exposure for this fight.
