Tyson Fury fired verbal shots at World Boxing Organization President Paco Valcarcel - after the sanctioning body head had mentioned the idea of Fury meeting in the ring with prospect Bakhodir Jalolov.
Fury lashed out at Valcarcel over losing his number one ranking with the WBO, in favor of unbeaten Olympic gold medal winner Oleksandr Usyk
According to the WBO's rules, when a world champion moves up in weight he has the ability to automatically become the mandatory challenger in the new weight class.
After Usyk unified the entire cruiserweight class in 2018, he moved up to heavyweight in 2019 and made a request for a mandatory crack at their belt, which at the moment is held by Anthony Joshua.
Usyk made his heavyweight debut in October with a stoppage over late replacement Chazz Witherspoon.
Fury was not happy with being removed from his position in favor of Usyk.
"Maybe [I would listen to you] if you hadn’t removed me from number 1 ranked WBO! And put in some cruiserweight bum with one fight at heavyweight, then you could have a say!," Fury stated.
Valcarcel explained that Fury's removal was a timing issue, as the "Gypsy King' was already contractually occupied with other fights. Fury is scheduled to return on February 22nd, when he faces WBC heavyweight champion Deontay Wilder at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas. Regardless of the outcome, there is already an option for a trilogy fight to take place in the summer.
"Champ we respect you a lot, but you aren't available... that's the reason WBO removed you from the rankings. By the way champ, good luck," Valcarcel stated.
