Mark RobinsonTyson Fury claims that he removed a clause in his contract preventing Dana White being involved in his long-awaited clash with Anthony Joshua.
It was announced on Thursday that Fury and Joshua will finally face off on December 11 in Cardiff, Wales. It was a long time coming with the months of negotiations this year just the latest chapter in a decade-long saga.
The main two points that held up proceedings over the last few months were where the fight's location and promoter.
Joshua’s promoter, Eddie Hearn, took care in placing contractual clauses in his fighter’s contract stating the bout had to take place in the UK and that White and TKO could have no involvement. It seems Hearn got his way with the contest taking place in Britain but a press release from Netflix confirming the bout named Turki Alalshikh’s The Ring and Dana White as the promoters of the event.
Hearn has since claimed he will take action so that White can have no involvement – as stated in Joshua’s contract.
“After all of Eddie Hearn's bum-smacking and ‘we only want it in England to get rid of Dana White.’ I'm sure it just got announced that Dana White and The Ring are promoting this fight,” Fury told Furocity. “How fucking mad is that? Damn!”
Fury, who was seen earlier this year alongside White at the White House for UFC Freedom 250, claimed that his original contract stated, like Joshua’s, that White could not be involved.
Frank Warren, Fury's UK promoter, had also previously claimed this to be the case.
“In Joshua's contract apparently, it says that TKO and Dana couldn't be involved,” said Fury. "That was in my [contract] but I took it out. I took it out so he could be involved. Fuck them. Yeah, I want him involved. Two baldies together.
“I like Dana. Good businessman and a good guy. A man who comes from nothing to being a billionaire, and look what he's done with the UFC. Unbelievable. I think he can do really well in boxing.
"I think he drives Eddie Hearn out, feeds him to the fishes.”
