Tyrone Nurse has signed a new promotional deal.
The British super-lightweight champion, who was last in action on July 30 at Leeds' First Direct Arena, has been working with Matchroom Sport in recent times, having boxed on five of their shows in his last five outings and been featured on Sky Sports.
But the 26-year-old slickster, from Huddersfield, has changed allegiances and signed a long-term contract to work with Eddie Hearn's promotional arch nemesis Frank Warren. Nurse will, from now on, be putting his ledger — which currently stands at 34-2-1 with seven early — at stake exclusively live on BoxNation, which has recently teamed up with BT Sport.
"I'm delighted to sign with Frank," said Nurse via the Queensberry Promotions press office, "and I'm confident he is the man to take me to the next level.
"I know Frank will keep me active and I'm excited about showing everyone what I can do next year."
Nurse was ordered by the British Boxing Board of Control to defend his Lonsdale belt against fellow Frank Warren-promoted man Jack Catterall — who is back in action against Diego Luque in a defence of his WBO Inter-Continental belt on December 3 at the Lagoon Leisure Centre in Paisley, Scotland — but the 23-year-old wasn't ready to fight having recently changed his training setup.
But the fight is one that Warren is keen to nail down for the foreseeable future.
"Tyrone is someone I have wanted to work with for a while and I've always been a fan of his skills," Warren said.
"I'd like to get him and Catterall in together — that would be a terrific scrap and we would try to make it an eliminator for a world title."
Nurse was offered a fight with Shawn Porter and has admitted that he would move up to welterweight for the right opportunity.
Further additions to Warren's stable, along with details of Tyrone Nurse's maiden fight under the Queensberry Promotions banner, will be revealed in due course.
"Tyrone is the first of many new additions," Warren continued. "We aim to be adding more to our stable of fighters in the coming weeks."
