Sauerland Event will stage the rematch between WBA "regular" super middleweight champion Tyron Zeuge (21-0-1)and mandatory challenger Isaac Ekpo (32-3) on December 2 at the MBS Arena in Potsdam.
Zeuge won their first fight on a technical decision after five rounds in March also at the same venue but had at the time of the stoppage faded after a good start and the WBA eventually ordered a rematch.
For Zeuge´s co-trainer and World Boxing Super Series semi-finalist Juergen Braehmer, it means a return to the gym almost right away.
Last night, Braehmer appeared to turn back the clock by ten years as he beat undefeated Rob Brant in what was his first fight at 168 since early 2008. The move up to light heavyweight was never due to weight issues but because it was too crowded at the top at that time in the super middleweight division for Juergen to get the breaks. Still, it was an impressive performance by the 39-year old who was his own man even in the corner although cutman Giulio Spagnoli had a lot of work to do with Braehmer´s cut and busted up face.
IN OTHER NEWS: Edis Tatli (29–2) gets a chance to revenge his split decision defeat against Francesco Patera (18–2). Tatli and Patera will meet for the second time on 12th December in Finland.
Tatli and Patera met for the first time in May, as the challenger Patera managed to squeeze out a controversial decision over the EBU champ Tatli. Tatli, his team and Finnish sports journalists were shocked over the verdict, and Tatli's manager Pekka Mäki filed a formal claim demanding an immediate rematch between the two.
The claim was rejected, but Tatli was named as the mandatory challenger for the victor of Patera's next fight. Patera was supposed to face Yvan Mendy next, but Mendy had other ideas and withdrew from the fight. Therefore it's Tatli's turn after all.
Tatli vows to get his vengeance.
"This time the fight won't go to the scorecards", says Tatli.
"I will give him a boxing lesson. If I was too passive in our last fight, now it's different. I will give him a beating and become the European champion once more."
The fight, dubbed as The Rematch, will take place at Kisahalli, Helsinki. More info about the event will be published next week.
