It's the same old refrain once again as two more Filipino boxers, one of whom figured in a terrible mismatch, were beaten in Laksi, Bangkok over the weekend even as World Boxing Council president Jose Sulaiman, his son Mauricio and Orient Pacific Boxing Federation president Frank Quill have all informed Manila Standard that the problem of glaring mismatches will be high on the agenda of the WBC Convention in Phuket, Thailand early next month.

Joel Rodrigo who suffered a second round TKO at the hands of Fahpetchnoi Sor Chitpattana last August 6 was matched against former WBC flyweight champion Medgoen Singsurat (3K Battery) who knocked out Manny Pacquiao on September 17, 1999 and is the reigning Asian Boxing Council super flyweight champion with a record of 37-3, 24 knockouts. As expected Medgoen battered the hapless Rodrigo from the opening bell to retain his title. The hard-hitting Thai hurt Ridrigo with vicious combinations and finally ended his misery with a hard left hook at 1:41 of the third round.

The second Filipino to lose was Nino Suelo who was also knocked out by Yodsaenkeng Por Choomchok in the fourth round of a scheduled six round bout. Suelo who had previously challenged for the WBC Youth minimum weight title was coming off a sixth round defeat at the hands of Oleydong Sithsamerchai, the champion, last August 6.
