The new date is almost set for the biggest fight in the New Zealand boxing scene. Two dates are being considered for the heavyweight battle between New Zealand rivals David Tua and Shane Cameron. Fight promoters are looking at August 15 or August 29.

The fight had been scheduled to take place on June 6, but Cameron injured his right hand during a tuneup win over Robert Davis on March 7. Cameron is scheduled to see a surgeon on Tuesday. Hand specialist Tim Tasman-Jones will wire together two bones that are broken in Cameron's hand. It will take Cameron at least eight weeks to recover before he can start training.

"It's frustrating not being able to do normal things," Cameron told Sunday News. "Obviously I have to be careful lifting stuff. I can't shake hands normally. I stick my hand out, realise what I'm doing, then stick the other one out. It confuses people. I definitely would have preferred the June 6 date. I was just coming off a win and had good rounds. I would have started camp in good condition. I try to stay in shape between camps."
