Former undisputed junior welterweight champion Kostya Tszyu told The Australian that he is considering a return to the ring and his mind will be made up at the start of the new year.
Tszyu said that if he does decides to return, it will be at welterweight limit of 147 pounds. Recently, undisputed welterweight champion Zab Judah made a rematch offer to Tszyu. Should a return happen, Tszyu would seriously consider Judah’s offer, but first he wants Judah to take a care of business in the ring on January 7.
The two men met in the ring in 2001, Tszyu unified the division by stopping Judah in the second round of the fight.
"It's good that he has given an offer, but nothing has changed with me. The fight would be interesting, but many things have to happen first and I have to clear my mind.” Said Tszyu
"I believe I did lose the (first) round, but it was a competitive one, not one-sided. He will remember our fight for the rest of his life and he still believes that if the referee had continued the fight it would have been a different result. Yes, I was caught in the middle of the (first) round but I came back in the latter part and I was always in control of myself."
