Former champion Austin Trout expects Andre Berto to do better than Manny Pacquiao when he faces WBC/WBA welterweight champion Floyd Mayweather Jr. on September 12th at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas.

Pacquiao lost a twelve round unanimous decision to Mayweather on May 2nd. There were few fireworks in the fight and the majority of the 4.4 million pay-per-view buyers were disappointed with the in-ring action.

To repay those fans who felt they were milked of their money, Mayweather says he selected Berto as his next opponent.

Berto has been involved in several exciting contest, including a Fight of The Year battle with Victor Ortiz. But against Mayweather he is a serious underdog and almost nobody is giving a shot to win. At best, people are predicting that he'll put in an honest effort.

"To be honest, Berto might give him a better fight than Pacquiao because Pacquiao looked gun shy, he didn’t want to fight, he looked like he didn’t want to be there. Mayweather’s fought all the names in the game — not necessarily in their prime, but definitely fought all the names in the name. Berto is the fight that’s gonna happen," Trout told On The Ropes Boxing Radio.
