Recently, WBC junior middleweight champion Oscar De La Hoya revealed to a group of boxing writers at Il Postino restaurant in Manhattan, that he would be willing to face Felix "Tito" Trinidad on May 5, if negotiations fell apart for a proposed bout with Floyd Mayweather, Jr. De La Hoya and Trinidad have apparently had recent conversations in Puerto Rico with respect to a rematch, a bout De La Hoya says his fans want most.

"The question I get asked most from fans is, 'Will you fight Trinidad again?'" De La Hoya said. "I ran into Tito a few days ago. He looked trim. He's not done. A Tito fight would be much easier to make than a Mayweather fight. But, a win over Mayweather would mean more because most people think I beat Trinidad the first time. Mayweather is more of a challenge."

BoxingScene asked promoter Don King about the propsed bout at the recent post-fight press conference for James Toney-Samuel Peter in Los Angeles, California.

"I heard that. I'm going to call Tito when I get back to town and talk to him about it. I'll see how he feels and if he really wants to come back," replied King.
