Kevin Cunningham, trainer for four division world champion Adrien Broner, is confident that his boxer will send Manny Pacquiao into retirement when they meet in Las Vegas on January 19.
It was officially confirmed last month that the MGM Grand will be the venue when Pacquiao puts his WBA "regular" welterweight title on the line.
Broner warned Pacquiao he should enjoy being champion while he can.
Pacquiao is fighting for the first time in the United States in over years.
As the training camp plays out, Cunningham likes what he sees from Broner, who earlier this year fought to a draw with Jessie Vargas.
Certain adjustments were made to Broner's ongoing camp to assure a better chance at victory.
“I think he’s having even a better camp than the last. He’s added a new strength and conditioning coach and everything is working out perfect and camp is going extremely well and smooth. AB’s looking fast and explosive. I have no complaints," Cunningham said.
“Adrien’s got everything; he’s a real throwback fighter. He’s got speed, he’s got power, he’s got quickness, he’s got footwork. He can punch and he can bang and he can box. He’s got skills and he can be slick if he wants to be. So he’s the total package."
Cunningham and Broner have been studying a lot of tape on Pacquiao, who earlier this week turned 40-years-old.
“We have an idea of the way the fight is going to go. We’ve studied tons of Pacquiao footage and he pretty much fights the same every fight. Manny’s a rhythm fighter so it’s all about getting in his rhythm. He pretty much does his thing. But outside of that I’ve never really seen him make too many adjustments. He’s pretty much the same guy," Cunningham said.
