According to the San Antonio Express-News, welterweight Golden Johnson (25-7-3, 18 KOs) has signed a three-year promotional deal with Top Rank.

Terms of the deal were not disclosed, but Johson is set to receive seven fights over the three-year period.

Johnson has been the frontrunner to face former WBO welterweight champion Antonio Margarito (34-5, 24KOs) on the undercard of Miguel Cotto-Shane Mosley on Nov. 10 in New York's Madison Square Garden.

The announcement of Johnson's signing may be an indication that the proposed bout with Margarito is officially signed, or very close to it.
