In what was his ESPN debut this past weekend in New Orleans, lightweight prospect Teofimo Lopez impressed the national audience by impressively halting William Silva in six rounds to improve to 10-0 (8 KO's).
Todd duBoef, the president of Top Rank (which handles Lopez) told BoxingScene.com - "Like I always say, when you have marketability and ability it's the perfect storm.
"That's always the thing you look for, this guy is full of personality, he's got a ton of charisma, he's got swagger and confidence and then he gets in the ring and he's getting so much better."
In the past Top Rank has developed the likes of Oscar De La Hoya, Floyd Mayweather and Miguel Cotto from the very beginning of their professional careers to various world titles and millions of dollars.
"I think they all have a different progression. Oscar had that very quick hand-speed, tall, lanky, wicket left-hook. Floyd was just so mature, he was the prodigy of a father who taught him how to throw everything. Cotto was just a beast, he was strong and he muscled his way through there," said duBoef.
And he added - "With Teofimo, if you were asking me who does he look a little bit like? He reminds me a little bit more like Mayweather because he does the pull counter, he sits in the pocket, he's got solid defense, he's on his toes just like Floyd, he doesn't get hit and he hits you with shots you don't see coming."
Lopez's return to the ring is unsure given that he injured his right hand in the early stage of his fight on Saturday and he will be in Los Angeles on Wednesday to see expert hand specialist, Dr. George Shin.
