Bob Arum is on the campaign trail with Manny Pacquiao in The Philippines.

"I'm going to do what I promised during our last promotion - help Manny win the election," Arum said from The Philippines today.

Pacquiao is running for Congress against incumbent Darlene Antonio-Custodio. The election is on May 14.

"I am doing this from my heart. I want to help our poor," Pacquiao said.

Jose Cotto of Caguas, Puerto Rico will go into "the fight of my life" when he takes on Prawet Singwancha of Thailand for the vacant World Boxing Association (WBA) lightweight title Friday, May 11, in Salinas, Puerto Rico.

Cotto, 29 and the older brother of Miguel, is trained by his uncle, Evangelista Cotto.

Singwancha has won 26 fights in a row. He the current Asian Pacific Lightweight Champion with 13 defenses.

Singwancha is rated WBA #1; Cotto is WBA #2. This is the second world title fight for Cotto who lost a 12-round slugfest vs. undefeated Juan Diaz of Houston about a year ago in Las Vegas.

Cotto vs Singwancha is promoted by Top Rank in association with Miguel Cotto Promotions. The title fight will be broadcast live on Telefutura.

WBO #1 rated featherweight Steven Luevano, who takes on Nicky Cook in a world title fight July 14,  will be in a 5-mile  charity run this Saturday. Luevano, from LaPuente, Ca., will run for the fight against womens cancers at the EIF Revlon Run/Walk for Women in Los Angeles on Saturday, May 12.

The following Monday, Luevano will begin training in Oxnard, Calif. He will work with trainers Eduardo and Robert Garcia who are planning to use Jose Aguiniga, Brandon Rios and Mikey Garcia as sparring partners to help Luevano get wired in for his title fight which will be held at London's Millennium Dome.

Luevano, 32-1 with 14 KOs, will take on Cook, 27-0, 15 KOs, for the vacant WBO featherweight championship.
