Top Rank CEO Bob Arum is very high on two-time former Olympic gold medal winner Guillermo Rigondeaux (5-0, 4KOs). The seven-time national champion recently inked a promotional agreement with Top Rank. He makes his first appearance as a Top Rank fighter this Saturday against Jose Angel Beranza Espino (33-18-2, 26KOs) in an eight round bout in Tijuana, Mexico. Fox Sports will televise.
Arum views Rigondeaux as arguably the greatest amateur boxer of all-time. Rigondeaux has a record of 243-4 as an amateur. Arum would like to showcase his talents on HBO and believes the Cuban fighter can hang with the best at featherweight, super bantamweight and bantamweight.
"We want to eventually showcase Rigondeaux either on HBO or on one of our pay per view shows. You know he was considered the greatest amateur in the world," said Arum. "I think that he fits right in there with Yuriorkis Gamboa. I think that he fits right in there with all of those junior featherweights and featherweights and even bantamweight I think that he can make."
