At the Omni New Daisy Theater, Memphis, Tennessee, a battle of unbeaten lightweights saw Hank Lundy (18-0-1, 10KOs) won a ten round unanimous decision over Tyrese Hendrix (18-1-1, 7KOs) with three knockdowns. The scores were 98-88, 100-88 and 99-88.
Lundy appeared to be stronger and more accurate with his punches. The worst of three knockdowns took place in the sixth, when Lundy dropped Hendrix with a barrage of punches. Hendrix beat the count and managed to make it to the bell but he seemed to be in trouble and ready to go. Lundy continued to outwork Hendrix in round seven, but in the ninth, Hendrix tried to jump on Lundy with an assault. Lundy fought right back with his own punches to push Hendrix back. At the end of the ninth, Hendrix landed a few good shots. In the tenth, Lundy pushed through with his workrate to keep Hendrix at bay.
In the main event, heavyweight Tony Thompson (34-2, 22KOs) demolished Owen Beck (29-5, 20KOs) in four rounds. The fight was a mismatch with Thompson in total control.
Thompson stunned Beck in the first round with a combo to the head. About twenty seconds later Thompson landed a right that dropped Beck. He continued to beat him up in rounds two and three. Beck was in bad shape. He was getting beat up pretty bad in the fourth round and his corner tossed in the towel.
