Doncaster Dome, Doncaster, Yorkshire - Former British Olympian and rising professional light heavyweight prospect Tony Jeffries (9-0-1, 6 KOs) continued his rehab after suferring a disappointing draw against 10-25-3 Michael Banbula a year ago with an unimpressive but fairly one-sided win over journeyman Paul Morby (6-7-1).
2008 Beijing Olympics bronze medalist was in offensive mode all fight long but he was also too predictable and too straightforward to create any problems for his awkward opponent. Spoiler Morby was bobbing and weaving under fire and held Jeffries from time to time, which prevented Jaffa from scoring anything of significance. He connected with some heavy blows in round six, but Morby survived the onslaught with visible ease and lasted until the final bell while successfully avoiding any danger.
Referee Howard Foster scored it 80-72 - for Jeffries, and BoxingScene agreed. However, Jaffa didn't impress anybody for a moment and didn't look considerably better than in his previous fights despite a good share of fruitless efforts by well-known trainer Tommy Brooks.
Also on the card, veteran contender Mehrdud Takaloo (26-7, 17 KOs) returned into action with a close win over litte-known professional loser Steve Spence (2-6-2, 1 KO). The lone score was 39-37 - for Takaloo.
