Echo Arena, Liverpool - Unlike their exciting first meeting, the rematch was fought at a lackluster pace. Commonwealth (British Empire) light heavyweight champion Tony Bellew (16-0, 10KOs) won a twelve round unanimous decision over Ovill McKenzie (18-11, 7KOs). With the victory he adds the vacant British light heavyweight title. The scores were 118-111, 118-111 and 119-110.

The fight was a rematch of their December fight, which had fireworks from the first round and saw both fighters hit the deck. Bellew won their first meeting by TKO in eight, but made a decision to fight at a cautious, defensive pace in the rematch.
