Tony Bellew today told his fans - you've seen the worst of me, now get ready for the best of me.

Commonwealth light-heavyweight champion Bellew defends his title against dangerous Ovill McKenzie at the Liverpool Echo Arena on Saturday night.

It forms part of Frank Warren's bumper "The Return of the Magnificent Seven" card.

The fight will be Bellew's second defence after he climbed off the floor last time out to defeat Bob Ajisafe on points.

He was not at his best that night - but has vowed to put the record straight when he meets big-punching McKenzie.

"It was a horror show to be honest," said Bellew. "The only positive I can take it from it was that I wasn't very good but I still won.

"That shows the potential that I have, and one thing is for sure, it ain't happening again.

"This time against McKenzie I'm going to be back to my old self, and believe me, he's in a lot of trouble.

"Once I land on his chin it's goodnight. And in a way I'm glad that he's one of those opponents who everyone says is dangerous.

"If I have the fear, I'll be punching harder than ever before. I cannot wait for Saturday because it will give me the chance to show everyone what I am really about."

But McKenzie himself has told Boxing News that he is determined to upset the apple cart.
"I don't mind that Bellew is the favourite, I have had that all of my life and it's nothing new to me, but they don't call me 'the Upsetter' for nothing," he said.

"He hasn't fought anyone, the guy he won the belt against [Atoli Moore] was a nobody and the best name on his record is probably Bob Ajisafe, who showed him up a bit.

"I can't fight any other way than to put him under pressure, I have to get tight, because he's tall and hard I can't beat him on boxing alone. It will be a good fight and if it goes 12 rounds, it goes 12 rounds. And if I catch him, anything can happen."
