BoxingScene.com recently caught up with former WBA bantamweight champion Tomoki "El Mexicanito" Kameda (31-1) who faces Jamie McDonnell (26-2-1) in Corpus Christi in the latest edition of PBC on CBS on Sunday.
McDonnell edged Kameda in their first meeting in May that was also aired on CBS. Kameda decided to change trainers after the fight and is now working with Ismael Salas. The Cuban's stable of fighters include Yuriorkis Gamboa, Jorge Linares, and several others.
"We are working hard here in Las Vegas with my new trainer Ismael Salas. Everything is going great," Kameda told BoxingScene.com. "This fight I believe will have a different ending because we are working on different things and have a different strategy. We are working hard and I think it will be a lot different."
Even tough Salas was brought up in the Cuban school of boxing, El Mexicanito said that we shouldn't expect dramatic changes in his style. He said that they are focusing on enhancing his technique.
"I have my style and he is teaching me new things and working on my technique but it is still my style," Kameda explained.
Their first fight was very entertaining, with McDonnell hitting the canvas in the third round. Kameda said the fans can expect another great fight on September 6th.
"I want to thank all of the fans that are supporting me. I am working hard to put on a good fight for them," said Kameda.
