The title of this news item is not a typo, former WBO heavyweight champion Tommy Morrison is still continuing to fight for his right to fight. During an interview in the Philadelphia Boxing Report, Morrison revealed that he is looking to make a comeback by facing former heavyweight champion Mike Tyson in a fight that should have taken place ten years ago.

The Morrison comeback was first broken when BoxingScene scribe Mark Workman interviewed Morrison in February, as part of a very detailed piece on the subject of his return. Click here to read Mark's piece.

Morrison lost the right to fight in 1996 when he tested positive for HIV, the virus that causes AIDS. Morrison was on the verge of landing a pay-per-view fight with Mike Tyson when the test result came down. Morrison now claims that his positive result for the HIV virus was a false-postive because further tests over the years have all come up negative. Morrison feels that he was never HIV positive and has test results to back him up for a return to the ring.

Morrison and Tyson are no longer spring chickens, Morrison is 37-years-old and Tyson just turned 40. Morrison says that Tyson does not live far from his house and the two have actually spoken on the phone with respect to a potential fight.

"He lives right down the road in Scottsdale [Arizona],'' Morrison said of Tyson. "I've got his number; I've spoken to him a few times.''

While Morrison is talking comeback, Tyson has been vocal about staying retired.
