At the Atlas Arena in Lodz, Poland, cruiserweight king Tomasz Adamek (39-1, 27KOs) made the big move to heavyweight and battered Andrew Golota (41-8, 33KOs) for a fifth-round TKO to win the vacant IBF International heavyweight title. Thousands of Polish fans stood on their feet in the arena to cheer on two of the most popular fighters in the country.

Adamek came out quick with shots to the head and body, working Golota over as the crowd went wild. Golota started pressing forward and Adamek did not back off. Adamek continued to also press forward with hard shots. The two of them traded hard combinations at close range. Adamek began to move more and jumped in with combos when Golota got close. A three punch combination by Adamek sent Golota down in the final minute. He was able to get to his feet and began to chase after Adamek to force an all-out brawl.

Golota came out in the second round coming foward and trying to press the action. A brief time out was called to replace Golota's mouthpiece. Golota continued to press while looking for a big punch. Adamek stayed on the back foot, throwing combinations and quick punches while staying away. A cut opened up above Golota's left eye.

Golota came back out in the third with the same fire. Adamek was more than willing to exchange hard shots. Golota took the punches well and pressed forward. Adamek received his second warning for a low blow while mixing up his punches to the head and body. Golota started to push Adamek back with hard punches while working his way in with a straight jab. A huge Golota chant broke out in the crowd.

In the fourth, a big Golota chant at the start. Golota coming forward and Adamek buzzing him with a good counter. Adamek jumped on him with a variety of shots to finish him off. Golota fought his way out of trouble. Adamek was on a real high. He started getting more brave by standing his ground to exchange hard power shots. Golota landed a left on the inside. Adamek took the punch well.

At the start of the fifth, a huge hook sent Golota down for the second time in the contest. Adamek jumped on him with punches from all angles and tried to finish him off. Golota was in all sorts of trouble and tried to hold on. The ref jumped in and stopped the contest as Adamek was battering him.
