Philippine welterweight champion Arniel Tinampay has been beaten by Uzbekistan ’s emerging boxing star, undefeated Sherzodbek “Lion” Alimjanov in a fight card in Tashkent.
The 26 year old Alimjanov won an impressive ten round unanimous decision to stretch his record to 14-0 with 9 knockouts while Tinampay dropped to 9-9-1 with 3 knockouts.
All three judges scored the fight for the hometown boy. Alexey Kolemasov 99-91, Roman Navruzov 100-90 and Ruafat Riskiev 99-92.
The former Uzbekistan amateur standout was ranked No. 5 by the WBC Asian Boxing Council and No. 35 in the WBC world rankings as well as being the CIS and Slovenia Boxing Bureau champion.
Tinampay who won the Philippine welterweight title with a twelve round unanimous decision over Dondon Sultan on November 14, 2007 and in his last fight retained the title with another unanimous decision over promising young Dan Nazareno Jr. on January 18 this year was ranked No. 9 by the Asian Boxing Council of the WBC.
