Former two division world champion Timothy Bradley (31-1, 12KOs) returns next Saturday night, on HBO, against undefeated Jessie Vargas (26-0, 9KOs) at the StubHub Center in Carson, California.

A few weeks ago, it was announced that Bradley-Vargas would have the vacant WBO welterweight title at stake.

Bradley previously held the title, but then lost it to Manny Pacquiao. Last month, Pacquiao lost the title to Floyd Mayweather Jr., who also holds the WBC/WBA titles at the weight.

Mayweather had planned to relinquish the title, but never did so.

On Wednesday, Mayweather stayed very firm on his position that nobody should be fighting for the WBO title - until he receives the belt and actually vacates the belt. Mayweather complained that he never received the title after beating Pacquiao.

"I don't know, I don't know anything about that. I've been hearing this stuff too. To be honest I don't know anything about that. I've been hearing this stuff and I don't know anything about that. I think that's a question for the WBO," Bradley said.

Bradley hopes the WBO title is at stake. Either way, he plans to punish Vargas in the ring.

"It's very important for the title to be on the line because I want to win that world championship. But if the title is not on the line, I still have to put hands on Jessie. I trained, I sacrificed, took time away from the family and somebody has to pay for that," Bradley said.
