WBO Youth World Champion Tim-Robin Lihaug (11-1, 6 KOs) can continue his climb to the top of the super middleweight division on May 2 when he faces Giuseppe Brischetto (13-3, 7 KOs) at the Frederiksberg-Hallerne in Copenhagen.

The Danish capital has proved a happy hunting ground for the Norwegian talent in the past with victories over Steve Kroekel, Marko Benzon, Simen Smaadal, George Beroshvili and last month’s second-round destruction of Slavisa Simeunovic all coming in Copenhagen. ‘’I love fighting in Copenhagen’’ said Lihaug. ‘’It’s like my boxing hometown. I’ve had five good wins there and I want this to continue on May 2.’’

To fulfill this wish and extend his unbeaten run, the 22 year-old must overcome the experienced Italian Brischetto. ‘’He is a good fighter,’’ said Lihaug. ‘’ He may have lost three times but these have all come in title fights against top-quality opponents. He has an aggressive style and will come forward and throw a lot of punches, so I must be careful and not let him fight his fight.’’

Despite the tough resistance Brischetto will bring, Lihaug remains confident in his own ability. Having suffered his sole career loss in 2013, the Bergen-boxer has bounced back with eight successive wins and since teaming up with renowned Norwegian coach Ulf Johansen has begun to show his true potential.

‘’My progression has been off the chart,’’ said Lihaug. ‘’I’m a completely different fighter now. With Ulf in my corner, I’m only going to get better and better.’’

Lihaug’s preparations have received a further boost. The Norwegian puncher is currently in Berlin, sparring Sauerland stable-mates Oscar Ahlin, Stefan Haertel, Enrico Koelling and IBF International Super Middleweight Champion Tyron Zeuge.

‘’It’s quality sparring,’’ said Lihaug. ''We're all at a good level so I’m getting some great work. It’s really helping me to get stronger and make sure I’m in the best possible shape for a tough fight on May 2.’’

Said promoter Nisse Sauerland: ‘’This is going to be another tough test for Tim. Brischetto is a talented fighter. He has a lot of experience and will be coming to Copenhagen to win. Tim must be prepared for a real battle or could risk losing everything.’’
