WBO welterweight champion Tim "Desert Storm" Bradley (29-0, 12KOs) has been inactive since his controversial June victory over Manny Pacquiao. Bradley has maintained a low profile over the past few months but visited with us on a recent edition of Boxingscene's official audio show, The Boxing Lab.
There has been talk of Bradley returning to the ring in February but Bradley said his return could get pushed back to March.
"I'm just trying to figure out what my next move is. February 9th is my tentative date. I'm just waiting to hear back from Todd (DuBoef) and my manager (Cameron Dunkin) to get an official date and start talking about opponents," stated Bradley who also saud he has been training. "I'm in the gym already. I'm not sure if the February 9th date is going to really be the date. You need time to promote the fight and February is coming soon."
The Southern California native also chimed in on Saturday's riveting fight between Juan Manuel Marquez and Manny Pacquiao. Bradley praised both fighters saying that they gave the fans their money's worth.
"Those two guys are great champions. They put on a tremendous show for boxing and all the fans. Even though Pacquiao got caught he showed how bad he wanted it. It was a tremendous punch. Even though he got caught he was winning at the time. That punch would knock anybody out," Bradley told The Boxing Lab.
The Boxing Lab co-host Ernie Gabion asked Bradley if you can feel it through your fist when you land a one-punch knockout shot. Bradley said that the feeling alone won't tell you if the punch is going to finish the job.
"When you land a punch you don't feel it (that it will knock them out) when you hit them. You know you connect good but he (Marquez) didn't know he wouldn't get up when he first hit him. I've knocked guys out cold before and I didn't know it when I connected," Bradley explained.
Bradley did see that the fight motivated him and that he can't wait to get back in the ring.
"It did get me excited. It was a really good fight. Pacquiao was busting him up before he got caught. It looked like the old Pacquiao landing three, four punches. I called my manager the next day asking him to hurry up and get me a fight."
