New York – Throwdown Fantasy Boxing is going into its third week of action and the leaderboard is filling out nicely. The first free game is well underway and we had 2 more fighters in action this past weekend.
Ricky Burns was in action Friday night from Scotland and struggled early against Jose Gonzalez. He was being out-boxed through seven rounds until Jose got tired and ended up retiring on his stool in the ninth. Because of the slow start, Burns only was able to score a disappointing 45.5 points.
Dierry Jean earned a Group B high 95.3 points in his 4th round TKO win over Cleotis Pendarvis on Friday night on ShoBox. He dominated the short fight and was able to stop Pendarvis with a barrage of punches in the 4th.
The 2nd free game is now taking entries with cash prizes to the top 5 players. The 2nd game will be open for entries until May 18th when it officially starts with Showtime's Lucas Matthyse vs. Lamont Peterson card. The game will run through HBO's Mikey Garcia - Juan Manuel Lopez card on June 15th. The website will fully launch with weekly Salary Cap Fantasy Drafts similar to other daily fantasy websites.
Players will draft teams of 5 fighters and compete directly with others users to win cash prizes. Games will usually run between 4-5 weeks long so that there is enough fighters to choose from.
Once the full website launches, similar to the daily fantasy websites, players can enter into cash games by making deposits and the top score leaders of each game will win cash prizes.
Players will get points based on the decision of the fights and the statistics. The statistics include Total Punches Landed, Total Punches Thrown, Knockdowns, Connect Percentage and a fighter’s Plus/Minus (Total Connect Pct. minus their opponents Total Connect Pct.).
