The never ending story of overmatched Filipino boxers going to Thailand only to be badly beaten continues, with three fighters losing over the weekend in a fight card at the Mall Shopping Center in Bangkok.
Joen Honno suffered a twelfth round TKO in an Asian Boxing Council featherweight title fight against champion Chonlatarn Piriyapinyo, Rud 4K Kevkatche dropped a unanimous decision in a fight for the vacant Asian Boxing Council super featherweight title against Saddam Kiatyongyuth and lightweight Renato Moreno was knocked out in the sixth round by 1999 Southeast Asian Games gold medallist Somchay Nakbalee.
Chonlatarn who won the ABCO featherweight crown with a victory over Filipino Rolando Gerongco last July started aggressively and used solid body shots to wear down Honno. Chonlatarn caught Honno with a vicious uppercut and dropped the badly battered Filipino in the twelfth round forcing the referee to call a halt at 1:02 of the round. The undefeated Saddam who has a record of 5-0 with 4 knockouts scored a unanimous decision over Kevkatche, a one time sparring partner of Ring Magazine featherweight champion Manny Pacquiao, with all three judges turning in identical scorecards of 119-110.
