The heavyweights took center stage at the Playboy Mansion in Beverly Hills, CA, as Tony Thompson (29-1, 17 KOs) won a ten-round decision over Timor Ibragimov (21-2-1, 13 KOs). The scores were 97-93, 97-93 and 99-91.
Thompson put a lot of pressure on Ibragimov, who was unable to do anything significant to change the momentum of the fight. Ibragimov drops his second fight in a row.
An interesting fact revealed during the card, aired live on Fox Sports' Best Damn Sports Show Period, was that Timor is not related to undfeated Sultan Ibragimov. Numerous websites and media outlets have reported the two heavyweights as being cousins, and even brothers, but according to the broadcast team of BDSSP they are only close friends who share the same last name.
On the undercard;
2004 Olympic Bronze Medal winner Andre Dirrell (11-0, 7 KOs) won an eight-round unanimous decision over Kenny Kost (11-3, 6 KOs). Dirrell put Kost in on the canvas in rounds one and six. The scores were 80-70, 80-70 and 80-69.
Undefeated welterweight Jorge Paez, Jr. (13-0, 9 KOs)won a six-round decision over Jaime Alvarado (7-4-2, 4 KOs). The scores were 60-54 across the boards.
