ORANGE, CA –WBC Continental Americas Lightweight Champion Josesito Lopez will now shine even brighter after signing a multi-year, multi-fight co-promotional agreement with Thompson Boxing Promotions and Goossen Tutor Promotions.
“Josesito is a rising star with incredible potential. I am proud to have teamed up with Goossen Tutor Promotions in co-promoting him and take Josesito to the next plateau in his boxing career. It gives everyone involved a wonderful opportunity to build what could be a great champion; all the ingredients are there and now the wheels are in motion,” said Ken Thompson.
Added Dan Goossen, “"Ken (Thompson) has been developing some good, young talented fighters, and Josesito is one of those fighters. It will be nice working with Thompson Boxing getting Josesito the opportunities to reach the next level starting on Showtime, November 2nd."
Lopez (21-2, 12 KOs), currently world ranked 15th by the WBC in the lightweight division, just came off of an impressive win in August where he showed local fight fans at Soboba Casino just what he was made of when he knocked out Mexico’s hard hitting Luis “Vampiro” Arceo in a blood wrenching battle that ended in the 6th round. With his remarkable performance Lopez retained his WBC Continental Americas Lightweight Championship title.
The 23-year-old native of Riverside, California, will return to the ring on Friday, November 2nd as the semi-main event bout on Showtime’s “ShoBox: The New Generation” series when he squares off against Tyrone “Fist of Fury” Harris (21-3, 14 KOs) of Lansing, Michigan at the Emerald Queen Casino in Tacoma, Washington.
