On a recent edition of The Boxing Lab, BoxingScene.com's official audio show, top prospect Thomas Dulorme (15-0) admitted to being excited about his #1 position in the welterweight division in the current WBC rankings.

"I was surprised. I trained real hard to get there. I always want to put on a good show.  While I am surprised I am not super surprised because I've worked hard for it," Dulorme explained. He also said that the lofty ranking makes him want to train even harder and put on great fights for the fans.

"I am very happy that the WBC ranked me so high. I am very thankful. It makes feel like I've done a good job and makes me continue to want to work harder. I will keep demonstrating all of my skills and hopefully they will give me the opportunity to fight for a title soon."

The Puerto Rico based fighter has been training in his hometown of Carolina, PR in preparation for his August 31st fight against Colombian veteran Ivan Hernandez (29-3). Dulorme said that Hernandez is known to be a mover in the ring and that he has trained very hard so that he will be prepared for his style.

Dulorme insists that he has maintained his focus on Hernandez even though he has his HBO debut already penciled in for November 27th.

"Training has been excellent. I have prepared very hard in Carolina. I know a lot about Hernandez. I've seen him fight twice. He's a fighter that moves a lot. I will be ready for whatever he brings.

"All fights are important. I know that I need to win this fight to get to the next level. That is why I train three times a day. I need to train hard," Dulorme stated.

Hard hitting Argentine Luis Carlos Abregu (32-1) is one of the names that has been mentioned as a possible opponent for Dulorme in his HBO debut. Dulorme said that he is only thinking about his August 31st fight and that his team hasn't talked to him about potential opponents for his November fight.

"I am very focused on August 31st and Ivan Hernandez.  My promoters haven't spoke to me about Abregu so I don't know if that is the fight that is happening but I know he's a good fighter and I wouldn't mind facing him," Dulorme stated.
