Super lightweight contender Thomas Dulorme last fought in April when he was stopped by 140 pound WBO champion Terence Crawford in Arlington, TX in an HBO televised fight.

The Carolina, Puerto Rico native said that he had a lot of issues leading up to the fight but also wanted to make sure that he gave Crawford is due. Crawford is an unbeaten two-division champion.

"I don't want to make excuses but I had a lot of personal problems going into that fight. I was going through a divorce and my management team didn't want me to leave Puerto Rico to train for that fight.  I don't want to take anything away from him. Terence Crawford is a great fighter but I feel if I was 100% mentally prepared for the fight it would have been different," Dulorme stated.

Prior to the Crawford fight, Dulorme had begun working with elite trainer Robert Garcia. Dulorme had hoped Garcia would train him in Puerto Rico for Crawford but Garcia's deep stable of fighters made leaving California impossible.

"I would like to go back to Robert in the future if it is possible. He is a great trainer. My team and myself felt it would was better to train in Puerto Rico for the fight because I was going through the divorce," said Dulorme.

As for his future plans, Dulorme said that he doesn't have a return date set but plans on coming back as a welterweight. He began his career at 147 pounds and believes he will be stronger at the weight this time around.

"I think 147 will be the better weight for me. There are a lot of really good fighters there.  I started off at 147 but I was a small 147 when I was 21-22 years old but now I will be bigger at 147 at 26 years old," Dulorme to BoxingScene.com.
