Female standout Holly Holm scored a repeat win over Victoria Cisneros in their Telefutura-televised main event Friday evening at the Route 66 Casino in Albuquerque, New Mexico.

The fight was a repeat of their December 2009 affair, with the longtime local favorite Holm dominating the action in the ring and on the scorecards, while Cisneros remained game throughout.

Also of similar note was Cisneros taking the fight on very short notice, jumping in at the last minute when the opportunity came to avenge an old loss and also to get some quality airtime.

Once the bell rang, the original game plan changed dramatically. Holm came out firing from the gate in their 10-round bout (two minute rounds), piling up points early and forcing her familiar foe to ponder ‘what went wrong?’

Cisneros was game but could never quite put together a rally to turn things around.

Instead the Albuquerque journeyman was forced to settle for being a step behind every stop the way

The tone was set early when Holm came out shooting her jab and taking on her opponent at a phone booth’s distance. Cisneros adapted, but only enough to enjoy small moments of success over the course of the evening.

Such was reflected on the final cards, each of which read 100-90.

Holm improves to 30-1-3 (9KO) with the win, while Cisneros falls to 5-12-2 (1KO).

The victory keeps Holm’s winning streak running to nearly seven years long, having now won 24 fights without a loss.

The bout itself was a rarity for the Telefutura Solo Boxeo series, rarely if ever showcasing female fighters. The female bout was the first to headline the series since making its return to the airwaves last year.

Elco Garcia dominated in the televised co-feature, repeatedly dropped Joaquin Zamora en route to a lopsided decision loss. Scores were 78-71 (twice) and 77-73.

Hot lightweight prospect Fidel Maldonando Jr. closed out the televised portion of the show with a fourth round knockout of sub. 500 lightweight Eduardo Ramirez. Maldonando (11-0, 10KO) scored knockdowns in the first and fourth rounds, the latter producing and ending to the bout at 1:37.
