Civic Hall, Wolverhampton, West Midlands - A four-win Stephen Ormond's title run came to an end several minutes ago at Wolverhampton's Civic Hall, where he was DQed in the tenth round against determined challenger Terry Flanagan in a fight for his WBO European lightweight belt. The bizarre end to a grueling fight came 1:50 of the tenth round.
WBO #5 Ormond, much shorter than his opponent, found trouble while seeking for his way in. Flanagan was hit at times but he retained his composure, moved well and avoided being punished too much. Ormond was eating more punishment on his way in, specifically from WBO #7's potent jab.
Flanagan's advantage was clearly felt but Ormond remained very much in a fight. Wrong on his part were multiple head clashes, initiated by the defending champion. Referee Steve Gray warned him thrice in the ninth round, and after another intentional foul had no other way but to disqualify the Irishman in the tenth round.
Ormond, 31, is going back to 17-2, with 8 KOs, while Flanagan, who had a stoppage win over Nate Campbell in his past and who won the Prizefighter series as well, is now 27-0, with 10 KOs, and is expected to enter top-ten ranks soon.
---------------------
Middleweight Tommy Langford improved his record to 12-0, with 3 KOs, after a forceful fifth-round stoppage of brave but overmatched ex-Prizefghter contestant Wayne Reed (11-10, 5 KOs).
Langford, not being known as a heavy hitter, found himself in body shots. he slowed Reed down in the first couple of rounds, then began to deal him more and more punishment with each passed minute. Reed was hurt and down in the third, and then came down twice more on hard body blows also in the fourth. Langford, 25, got the job done late into the fifth with another powerful combo - this time to the jaw. Reed was
stopped standing.

Rising lightweight Craig Evans (14-0, 3 KOs) was all business against the Polish import Jacek Wylezol (11-6, 6 KOs) in getting a dull but well-earned methodical decision over eight rounds with a sole score being 80-73. Wylezol proved himself to be a sturdy boxer, who did his best to get a W result but was too limited to do that. There were no
knockdowns.
---------------------
Andrew "Never in a bad fight" Robinson (14-1, 4 KOs) has just shown poise in a losing effort against prospect Frank Buglioni, and now he did the same against... 19-year old Christian Hoskin-Gomez (1-3, 1 KO). Robinson overpowered the youngster but not without some rocky moments. The sole score was, however, 60-54 - in his favour.
---------------------
Former Commonwealth light welterweight champion Jamie Cox (18-0, 10 KOs), fighting just for the fourth time over last five years, impressively knocked out journeyman Alistair Warren (8-9-4, 4 KOs) in the very first round. Southpaw Cox quickly dropped Warren in the opener, then dominated him until a major left bomb has knocked the underdog out at approximately 2:30 of the rounds. Cox, 28, was fighting for the first time since 2013.
---------------------
Unbeaten prospect Ricky Summers (8-0, 3 KOs) retained his record and further improved it with a convincing decision over well-travelled journeyman Mitch Mitchell (5-32-1, 2 KOs). The sole score was 60-54 - for Summers.
