All fighters were on weight for Friday’s edition of Boxeo Telemundo, which takes place at Auditorio Blackberry in Mexico City, Mexico.
Headlining the show, Juan Pablo Sanchez looks to once again play the role of spoiler as he takes on rising prospect Antonio Moran. Sanchez tipped the scales at 134 lbs., while Moran weighed a trim and ready 133 lbs. in a battle of local lightweights.
Sanchez (30-12, 14KOs) has been out of the ring since last June, but has won eight of his last nine starts dating back to 2013. The lone loss over that stretch came in a hard-fought battle with Rene Alvarado in Oct. ’14. His last performance ended in a 4th round stoppage of Ever Ceballos.
Moran (19-1, 13KOs) steps up in class for his first televised appearance. The four-year pro comes in riding a three-fight knockout streak, including a 1st round stoppage of Uriel Perez on the undercard of Antonio Margarito’s ring return this past March in Mexico City.
In the evening’s chief support, Martin Casillas takes on Salvador Juarez in a scheduled eight-round bantamweight bout.
Casillas (15-7-1, 9KOs) weighed 120 lbs. ahead of what he hopes will be the end of a current four-fight winless stretch, all of which have come in Telemundo-televised appearances.
Juarez (6-3-2, 2KOs) has enjoyed a terrific career turnaround after stumbling out to a 1-3-2 start in the pro ranks. The resurgent bantamweight has since claimed five consecutive victories heading into Friday’s affair, for which he weighed 118 lbs. His most recent bout came in March, scoring a major upset in an eight-round Telemundo-aired split decision win over Emmanuel Dominguez at this very same venue.
