Accoridng to a report in BILD, Nikolai Valuev's co-promoter Don King is looking for $4 million dollars [2.9 million euros] to fight WBC heavyweight champion Vitali Klitschko. The could very well take place, if they reach a deal, at the 61,000 seat Schalke Arena in Gelsenkirchen, Germany. Another possible venue is the Color Line Arena in Hamburg.
Klitschko's manager Bernd Bönte told the paper that Valuev's asking price was "impossible, even if Valuev had four belts and was undefeated." Previously BoxingScene.com reported that Klitschko's team had offered $1 million dollars, which Valuev turned down.
"There are still 14 days to consider the offer, then we would have book the arena. If it won't be Valuev, we have enough alternatives," Bönte said.
Kalle Sauerland, Sauerland Event, who are Valuev's other co-promoter, believes the fight terms can be worked out.
"This fight is an absolute must. We will find a solution. I think we'll get through this," Sauerland said.
