There definitely is no love lost between fellow Haitians Adonis Stevenson and Jean Pascal. The WBC light heavyweight champion Stevenson and former champion Pascal have engaged in many war of words here on BoxingScene.com over the years.
When BoxingScene.com asked Stevenson for his opinion on Pascal's knockout loss to Pascal this past January, Stevenson didn't really want to talk about his rival.
"I don't know about him, man. He talks a lot and then he lost. He got knocked out. I don't know what I think of him. That's his business. I am just focused on one fight at a time and I don't really want to talk about him," said Stevenson.
Rudy Louis, Stevenson's long time friend and representative, went more into detail on their past attempts to secure a fight against Pascal.
"We don't have anything against Jean Pascal. It's his career. He called out Adonis Stevenson and talked a lot of junk but we didn't pay him no mind and now he got his ass knocked out. He got his ass beat up. For us he's irrelevant. Adonis is fighting the best and he's not one of them (anymore) so who cares?
"We offered him the fight. We offered him the opportunity. Adonis is the champ. We offered him 70-30 (in the champion's favor) and he didn't want it. He wanted Kovalev and he got his butt kicked twice and now he's irrelevant. He chose his own destiny."
The door on a potential Stevenson-Pascal clash appears to be closed. Stevenson said that there is now no reason to face his fellow Quebec resident in what at one time would have been a huge fight in Montreal.
"If he had a title it would be different but he's got nothing except a mouth," Stevenson told BoxingScene.com.
