BoxingScene.com was advised that Alexander Povetkin, and Sauerland Event, are waiting for the World Boxing Association to make a ruling on the mandatory status of Hasim Rahman.
Rahman (50-7-2, 41KOs) was scheduled to challenge Povetkin (24-0, 16KOs) for the WBA's "regular" heavyweight championship on July 14th in Hamburg. But Rahman suffered a minor wrist injury that required surgery and a few weeks of rehab.
No September date will be finalized until the WBA make a determination if Rahman will remain as the mandatory challenger or if another boxer will be appointed as the mandatory due to Rahman's unavailability. Rahman expects to resume training in August.
