On Thursday, BoxingScene.com ran a story by Rick Reeno in which Golden Boy CEO Richard Schaefer stated that Adrien Broner will still appear on HBO on November 26th in a fight for the WBO's vacant super featherweight title.  Ricky Burns of England was originally going to defend the title versus the Cincinnati native on that date but Burns recently declared that he was going to move up to 135 pounds.

Eloy Perez, who is also promoted by Golden Boy, was then mentioned as a possible opponent to face Broner for the vacant strap.  However, the article stated that Eloy Perez's team was asking for more money than was available for the fight which would most likely eliminate him from further consideration.

BoxingScene caught up with Perez's co-trainer Sam Garcia to get his thoughts on the situation.  Garcia's mother Kathy is Perez's manager while his father Max is his lead trainer.  Garcia advised Boxingscene that they didn't ask for any more money for the fight than what was originally budgeted when Burns was slated to face Broner.

"We aren't asking for as much money as Burns was going to get but it is close," stated Garcia.  "It is only fair.  We are going to his hometown.  If the fight was in Las Vegas sure we would fight him for a lot less.  That is just common sense."

Garcia said that Perez wants nothing more than to fight for the WBO title but that the circumstances surrounding the potential fight make it very difficult.

"We are willing to go to Broner's backyard of Cincinnati and we want to fight for the WBO belt but no one will fight under those circumstances with the type of money they are offering."

The Garcia family has built Perez into a ticket seller in California and the 24 year old fighter had a great turnout in his hometown of Salinas, California on September 2nd.  It was Perez's first fight in his hometown.

Perez isn't known for his power but dropped the the usually sturdy Daniel Jimenez three times in route to a 2nd round knockout.

"Eloy has a big following that is growing all of the time.  We had a great crowd for his last fight.  I don't want it to look like we are asking for an outrageous amount of money because we aren't.  We are asking for a fair number.  If they want to pay us less then have the fight at a neutral venue," said Garcia.
