Sampson Lewkowicz, adviser to WBC middleweight champion Sergio Martinez (51-1-1, 28KOs), says his fighter is going to start training camp in mid-February for a June 7th title defense against former three division beltholder Miguel Cotto (38-4, 31KOs), taking place at New York's Madison Square Garden.

Martinez was medically cleared to start training, says Lewkowicz. The Argentine champion has been out of the ring since last April, when he suffered multiple injuries during a twelve round unanimous decision win over Martin Murray.

The two sides have been negotiating for week, with both sides agreeing on all of the major obstacles.

"Sergio is ready to fight Miguel Cotto. The doctors have cleared him and he can start training next month. Everything has been agreed upon on our side. There is nothing left to discuss on our end. Now we're just waiting on Cotto to tell us if the fight is on. Our promoter Lou DiBella is finalizing things with Cotto's side and we believe he could finish those discussions in the next few days," Lewkowicz told BoxingScene.com.
