Team Klitschko have given Nikolai Valuev a "take it or leave it" notice for a potential heavyweight fight with WBC champion Vitali Klitschko. For the last few weeks, the two parties have been negotiating but the money has been far apart. Klitschko's side offered Valuev a million, then raised it to $2 million and gave a final offer of $2.5 million.
Valuev, led by his promotional team of Don King and Sauerland Event, made a demand for $4 million dollars almost from the start. In the last few days, Valuev's side budged and said they were willing to accept the offer of $2.5 million - if they also receive a piece of the TV money from Russia, Germany and possibly the United States.
Klitschko's manager Bernd Bönte said the offer of $2.5 million is still on the table but his side is not going any higher and they are not going to make any more concessions.
"Our offer is very high. We are not going to make any further concessions. So either Valuev takes 1.8 million euros [2.5 million] - or the fight bursts," Bönte said.
