Promoter Tom Loeffler of K2 Promotions, who handle WBA/IBO middleweight champion Gennady "GGG" Golovkin (33-0, 30 KOs), has heard nothing from Eddie Hearn of Matchroom Sport, who promotes super middleweight Carl Froch (33-2, 24 KOs).
Several weeks ago there were some discussions between the two promoters. They were looking to reach an agreement where Golovkin would travel over to the UK to face Froch. Golovkin would also move up by eight pounds to take the fight.
Eventually the phone lines went cold. Froch, inactive since last May's knockout of George Groves, has yet to make an official decision regarding his future.
Hearn believes there is a good possibility that Froch will announce his retirement and never fight again.
Then on Saturday, Froch lit up the social networks after posting a chiseled photo of himself with the message - “Too big & too strong for GGG.”
He received an immediate response from Loeffler, who said - “Carl, there’s only one way to find out"
When asked if there was any word from Hearn on the matter, Loeffler confirms the phone lines are still running cold with no response from Froch's promoter.
"Just photos from Carl Froch, no word from Eddie Hearn," Loeffler stated.
