Hector Zápari, who trains and manages WBO super middleweight champion Gilberto "Zurdo" Ramírez (35-0) along with his father Jesus Zápari, has advised Boxingscene.com that a deal is near for their fighter to face mandatory challenger Jesse "Hard Work" Hart (22-0).
"The fight is very close to being finalized. We are looking at late September but we are waiting for it to be firmed up," said Zápari who recently met with Top Rank chairman Bob Arum.
"Zurdo is ready to go. We originally thought he would be fighting in July so he has been training. With this new date we've had to slow it down a little bit but we will start up camp at full speed again soon."
The 25-year-old Ramírez returned from hand surgery in April when he shutout Max Bursak over 12 rounds in Southern California. The card was broadcast on pay-per-view independently by Top Rank.
Bursak was deducted points on two different occasions during the fight that lacked sustained action. Zápari hopes that Hart comes to fight so they can put on a great fight for the fans.
"Hart is the #1 ranked challenger and we hope he comes to fight. Zurdo wants to fight aggressive against him from the opening bell Both fighters are tall and can fight on the inside to make a good fight. Hopefully Hart does his part so they can give the fans a great show," Zápari stated.
"We want Hart to come to fight and not come just to try to survive like Bursak. Those types of fighters are hard to shine against when they fight dirty and just try to survive. It's hard to put on a spectacular fight."
The Philadelphia based Hart has been a very offensive fighter throughout his young career so Zápari is confident the fight will be exciting for the fans. His only worry is that Hart won't be able withstand Ramirez's volume punching and will go into a shell like Bursak and Ramirez's previous opponent Arthur Abraham did.
"With Hart it should be different. We hope he comes to give a good fight and we hope that when he feels the pressure that he doesn't stop fighting and tries to just survive. We hope he does his part to give the fans a great a fight," Zápari told BoxingScene.com.
