According to Zanfer Promotions, who promote WBC super flyweight champion Juan Francisco "Gallo" Estrada, they are targeting a rematch with WBA champion Roman "Chocolatito" Gonzalez in 2020.

The boxers met the first time on November 17 of 2012. At the time Gonzalez was defending his WBA junior flyweight title against Estrada, who moved down in weight to take the fight.

Going into the fight, González had already been the WBA minimumweight champion and was now making the fifth defense of his title. He was in the ring at 25 years old, 33-0, 30 KO's including ten victories over Mexican opponents.

Estrada, then 22 years old, had a very good record of 26-1, 19 KO's, and his entire career was fought at the flyweight and super flyweight limit. He had never fought at junior flyweight and this was his first championship fight.

In the end, Gonzalez won a twelve round unanimous decision in one of the better action fights of the entire year.

Since then, for eight years, both Gonzalez and Estrada have had successful careers, remaining at the elite level of world boxing, and they are now in line to face each other again.

Both boxers have co-promotional deals with Eddie Hearn of Matchroom Sport.

Gonzalez has made 17 fights since the first meeting (15-2, 13 KO's), but he has been world champion at flyweight and super flyweight, and his two career defeats were against Sirsaket Sor Rungvisai.

Gonzalez derailed the planned unification between Estrada and Kal Yafai - when he knocked out the undefeated Yafai last month to capture the WBA title.

Estrada has fought 15 times (14-1, 8 KO's) since the first meeting, and he's been a world champion under the WBA and WBO.

Zanfer would like to match them against each other when the sport of boxing resumes from the recent lockdown due to the coronavirus pandemic. They are looking for the fight to take place in California, Texas or Nevada in the United States - or Mexico City, Monterrey or Hermosillo in Mexico.
